SAfE: Surgeon Aftercare for Emergencies

A Promise of Care Even When the Unexpected Happens

When you choose a plastic surgeon who is a member of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons (FSPS), you’re choosing more than an individual physician—you’re choosing the strength, expertise, and support of an entire statewide network.

Many FSPS surgeons participate in SAfE – Surgeon Aftercare for Emergencies, a program created to ensure that your postoperative care is protected during natural disasters and other unexpected emergencies.

How SAfE Protects You

Florida’s hurricanes and severe storms can disrupt travel, electricity, and access to medical offices—sometimes right when a patient needs their surgeon most.
The SAfE program ensures that:

• If your surgeon is temporarily unable to see you due to an emergency, another qualified FSPS Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon can step in to provide essential postoperative care.
• This support is coordinated privately between surgeons, so your personal information remains secure.
• You never have to rely on overcrowded emergency rooms for routine postoperative needs that a plastic surgeon is uniquely trained to handle.

A Statewide Network Committed to You

All SAfE surgeons are volunteer FSPS members who have agreed to help each other’s patients during crises. This collaborative network ensures that you always have access to safe, expert, and timely care—no matter what challenges arise.

Why This Matters

Plastic surgery often involves crucial follow-up in the days immediately after a procedure. SAfE ensures continuity, safety, and peace of mind:

• You are never alone in your recovery
• You remain in the hands of certified professionals
• Your care continues even if your surgeon’s office is affected by severe weather
