Brow Lift in Florida

The forehead shows some of our deepest signs of aging. A brow lift is a straightforward procedure that has helped thousands of men and women revitalize their appearance. By reducing wrinkle lines on the forehead, around the eyebrows and around the tops of the eyes, a brow lift can reverse signs of fatigue and stress.

What Is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a procedure that improves several areas around the tops of the eyes to reduce signs of aging. This procedure can reduce vertical frown lines between the eyebrows and raise sagging eyebrows that cause a hood effect on the eyelids. It also reduces horizontal wrinkle lines across the forehead and those that occur on the bridge of the nose in between the eyes. Finally, it places the eyebrows in a youthful position that makes you appear more alert.

The Art of a Natural Appearance with a Brow Lift

Your plastic surgeon will work with you to achieve a natural appearance after your brow lift procedure. This may include scheduling complimentary procedures at the same time, including upper or lower eyelid tucks, a facelift, other skin resurfacing treatments or other procedures that may be beneficial for your specific needs.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

A brow lift can make you look and feel younger and more refreshed. Signs of stress and aging are reversed as unsightly wrinkles are relaxed and smoothed. The skin may relax around the eyes over time, and this drooping can make you appear tired or even impact your vision. This can also be improved with a brow lift.

Is a Brow Lift Right for Me?

If you are bothered by signs of aging in the brow region, a brow lift may be right for you. This may include drooping upper eyelids, frown lines between the eyebrows or unsightly wrinkles on the forehead. You may be a candidate for brow lift surgery if you:

  • Are physically healthy
  • Don’t smoke
  • Have a positive outlook and realistic goals

Elements of a Brow Lift

There are four steps to a brow lift procedure.

Step 1 - Anesthesia
You will be given medication so that you will be comfortable during the surgical procedure. Both intravenous sedation and general anesthesia are appropriate for this procedure, and your surgeon will recommend the best option for you.

Step 2 - The procedure
There are multiple ways to perform a brow lift by using either an endoscopic or coronal incision.

  • Endoscopic incision - Some surgeons prefer using a thin tube with a camera on the end called an endoscope. It is inserted through small incisions made along the hairline. This allows the tissue and muscle underneath the skin to be adjusted, correcting the source of visible wrinkles, creases, and furrows in the forehead.
  • Coronal incision - Other surgeons may prefer to use a coronal incision. This is created along the top of the head, from ear to ear, and concealed within the hairline. The forehead skin is then lifted, and adjustments can be made underneath.

Step 3 - Closing the incisions
Brow lift incisions are typically closed with removable or absorbable sutures. Your surgeon may also use skin adhesive, surgical tape or special clips to ensure the surgical site heals properly.

Step 4 - See the results
Results appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal smoother forehead skin and a more youthful, rested appearance.

How Involved Is a Brow Lift Procedure?

Brow lift procedures are generally outpatient procedures. Be prepared to have someone drive you home and help you following your procedure. It may be helpful to have help around the house for the first few days after your procedure.

How Long Is the Recovery After a Brow Lift?

It is essential that you follow all of your surgeon’s care instructions to ensure the success of your surgery. Your surgeon will tell you what to expect and if your forehead will be taped or wrapped after the procedure.

Initial recovery after a brow lift procedure is 10-14 days. Your surgeon will tell you when to schedule a check-up appointment to have sutures removed. After two weeks, you should be able to return to work and other normal activities. While you will feel comfortable going about your regular routine, your surgical site will take several additional weeks to complete the healing process.

Plan on keeping your head elevated and avoiding strenuous activity as long as your surgeon recommends. Cosmetics may help you feel more presentable while going out in public. It may take several months for complete recovery.

After your procedure, you will be given care instructions, which may include:

  • How to care for the surgical site and drains
  • Medications to take or avoid
  • Specific concerns to watch for
  • When to schedule follow-up appointments with your plastic surgeon

How Much Does a Brow Lift Procedure Cost?

Prices will vary based on your individual case. Your board-certified plastic surgeon will provide you with additional information during your consultation. The total cost will depend on the type of procedure used and the geographic location of the surgeon’s office. Your health insurance may not cover this procedure, follow-up appointments or complications.

Many plastic surgeons offer payment and financing options for patients. Be sure to ask your surgeon’s office for more information.

Questions to Ask Your Brow Lift Surgeon

Be sure to ask your plastic surgeon specific questions about what you can expect during your procedure and individual recovery period. For example:

  • What medication will I need after surgery?
  • Will I have dressings/bandages?
  • When will they be removed?
  • Are stitches removed? When?
  • When can I resume normal activity and exercise?
  • When do I return for follow-up care?
  • What is the cost of my procedure? What does that cost include?

What Should I Do Next?

The first and most important thing to do is to select a surgeon who is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) that you can trust. ASPS surgeons meet rigorous standards. They are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery® (ABPS), and each surgeon has completed at least six years of surgical training following medical school with a minimum of three years of plastic surgery residency training.

Other standards required for ABPS surgeons includes:

  • Pass comprehensive oral and written exams
  • Graduate from an accredited medical school
  • Complete continuing medical education, including patient safety, each year
  • Perform surgery in accredited, state-licensed or Medicare-certified surgical facilities

Do not be confused by other official sounding boards and certifications. The ABPS is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which has approved medical specialty boards since 1934. There is no ABMS recognized certifying board with “cosmetic surgery” in its name.

By choosing a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, you can be assured that you are choosing a qualified, highly trained plastic surgeon that is board-certified by the ABPS.

If you are looking to reduce signs of aging and restore a youthful appearance, consider a brow lift with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
