Alfredo A. Paredes Jr., M.D.
Tallahassee plastic surgeon, Alfredo A. Paredes Jr., M.D. was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and grew up in Dothan, Alabama. Graduating Valedictorian & first in his high school class, he attended Emory University on merit scholarship to complete his college degree in Biology. After receiving the Emory Overall Excellence Award in 1992, he once again graduated with the highest GPA (4.0) and number one ranking in his class, which helped him earn the prestigious Woodruff Scholarship to Emory University School of Medicine. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude (with Honors). He remained at Emory University to complete his residency in plastic surgery. The division of plastic surgery at Emory University is world renown for innovations and leadership in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Paredes brought this special experience to Tallahassee in 2003.
Dr Paredes is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the prestigious Jurkiewicz Society. He holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University School of Medicine. He has authored journal and local magazine articles and a book chapter on topics of plastic surgery. Dr. Paredes’ special interests include cosmetic surgery, especially breast augmentation, body contouring (including massive weight loss patients), and facial cosmetic surgery (including facelift and eyelid lifts). He is also very involved with breast reconstruction and has extensive experience with silicone breast implants and reconstructive tissue flaps. He routinely provides care for breast cancer patients and women with genetic predisposition for breast cancer. He also treats patients with skin cancer and Mohs defects. Dr. Paredes also performs multiple laser treatments including removal of brown spots & tattoos.
